Greetings from the land of the Midnight Sun!

We made it to Helsinki!
The flights and bus to the town center were surprisingly easy, and the hotel is in a great location (props, Mom!). We are tucked in on a side street, steps away from Esplanade Park, as well as Helsinki Port, which houses the boat we will take to Stockholm tomorrow.

Upon arrival,  I knocked out for a short time while my parents explored the area, then we all went out to dinner at a popular restaurant, Strindberg. I am pleased to report that I ordered (and enjoyed) meatballs made of reindeer meat :-D. The food and wine (and the Finnish drink made for us) were delicious- what a way to start our trip!

As we walked back to the hotel after dinner, we all were surprised to see that it was still light out, even though it was already 10 pm.  This area is reported to have the longest periods of daylight, sometimes up to 23 hours!

As I write this,we are enjoying the hotel's breakfast and planning out our day.

As they might say in Finnish- Nyt on huono ajankohta aloittaa laihdutuskuuri!
